The Ship
Accommodations
W N Ragland's  staterooms open to a spectacular "great
room" in the center of the ship. No long hallways, lined
with small box-like compartments....Unlike any other
yachts or ships in her class, she has not been chopped
up in to the typical charter layout with bunkbeds and
rows of staterooms.

This layout is perfect for filming, as there is room for
both equipment,  scene layout, and talent. Her stainless
steel rigging and 100 foot tall bridge clearance provide
an infinite amount of camera angle possibilities.

Permanent berths for up to 6 overnight guests,
plus
crew, in 5 staterooms, as well as a pullman pilot berth
in the main salon. Additional sleeping is available
throughout the ship on various settees and banquettes.
Ragland's owner's suite boasts a very large custom
berth, along with two banquettes, suitable for lounging
or additional sleeping, a desk, numerous built-ins, etc.
Also in this suite are a fireplace with chopping block, en
suite private head with walk in shower, dresser, burl
table and other surprises. This is truly a suite, equal in
size to a one bedroom hotel suite with several seating
areas.

Other double suites are placed around the perimeter of
the main salon. The other fine suite of note is the
Captain's suite in the stern. This a beam to beam
stateroom, spanning the transom beam to beam and
opening to the spotless engine room forward. An
antique compass and desk adorn this suite. This suite
is completely isolated from the rest of the ship, for the
sake of both the captain's and guests' privacy. This
suite is finished to the same unmatched level of quality,
creativity, purpose of function, and warmth of the rest
of the vessel.  You are in the hands of a very happy and
capable Captain!

Ragland's deck structures, and interior were all fitted when Mr. Young acquired her
during the time that "Rust Never Sleeps" was released.  This work was done in
Florida.  Custom bronze fitments and castings adorn this massive beauty. Her solid,
quarter sawn teak decks are 2.5 inches thick, and all deck structures are solid teak
as well
.  In 1991 she had and extensive haulout.  A railroad car of pattern (furniture)
grade Honduran Mahogany (20,000 board feet!) was shipped to the Pacific Northwest
and she was extensively refitted. This was structural work, as a present for her 80th
lining) on massive 5" x 5" oak ribs, and her now new mahogany hull.  The lower part
of her hull is oak. There are many pieces of her original oak hull and structure still
present, and rock hard. Her break beam was even replaced!

Since she was opened up for the '91 haul, her low hour Caterpillar 3406 TA engine
was removed, and shipped to Caterpillar for a complete overhaul. She is just now
broken in at only 2700 hours.  Torque is delivered to her 44 inch propeller via a new
shaft log.

W N RAGLAND is fitted with 2 complete sets of Tanbark sails.  Her standing rigging,
rub rail, and even her chain plates are stainless steel. All glass aboard is hand
beveled lead glass, and she is also fitted with a wood burning fireplace.

Her galley is a true voyaging work center, designed to process high volumes of high
quality cuisine.  The centerpiece of the galley is a 4 burner Shipmate gas range with
oven and broiler.

She is also fitted with accent pieces of museum quality.
2 old growth redwood burl tables, for example, came from
Mr. Young's ranch in Northern California and were
installed during the Florida refit. One is
the heart shaped dining table and the other surrounds the
fore'mst in the owner's suite.  Beyond the original bronze
adornments, she is fitted with bronze rails and fitments from
a vintage Hollywood Florida hook and ladder fire truck, maple
from the Windsor Hotel ballroom floor in New York City.  Her spectacular
owner's suite is fully 30%
of her interior.
